Lifeguarding Training

The American Red Cross is pleased to partner with the Cannon Memorial YMCA to bring Red Cross Lifeguarding training to our community. This American Red Cross Certification includes Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (Lifeguard version).

The Red Cross course includes Certification in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED Essentials - all of which are required to be a lifeguard.

To participate, you must be:


  • 15 years old
  • able to swim 300 meters and
  • able to swim down 8-12 feet and retrieve a 10 pound weight

Session times and dates (participant must attend all four days):


  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26

Registration costs:

Sept. 6-18: $175 (facility members)
Sept. 13-18: $225 (program members)
