After the tornadoes in Joplin, 10-year-old year old Maggie Barnes heard that a family friend lost her home and everything in it. Maggie wanted to do something to help, so she went to see her principal at Tryon Elementary School in Bessemer City. She asked him if she could do a penny drive. He allowed her 30 days to collect donations from her classmates,.
Maggie printed flyers and worked very hard to raise money for Red Cross Disaster Relief. She brought in $154.15!
Thank you, Maggie, for helping people affected by storms like the tornado in Joplin.
